NJIT's Information & Cybersecurity Club

NICC is NJIT's official Information & Cybersecurity Club.

As a student run organization, NICC aims to give students at NJIT and abroad practical experience in the information security and cybersecurity industries while building engagement and excitement through hands-on activities, community building, and networking events.

WHAT WE DO

General Body Meetings

NICC hosts their GBMs every Wednesday from 2:30PM - 3:50PM in GITC 1400. Keep an eye out on Highlander Hub, your email, and our Discord for announcements about these!

The content of GBMs differs every week. One week, we might be doing a training presentation on an area of cyber. Another week, we might all get together to do some CTF challenges. Another week, there might be a featured speaker giving a talk about cybersecurity. We always go over the latest cyber news every week as well: part of being a cyber professional is paying attention to the latest developments.

The GBMs are a great place to connect and meet new friends who are also on their own journey. If you're interested in getting involved with the eboard or becoming a Senior Hacker, they are also the way you maintain "Active Membership" in NICC. If you attend at least 2 GBMs per month, you are considered an Active Member and may run for an eboard role or apply to be a Senior Hacker.

Conferences

NICC hosts one conference annually called SpringForward. It occurs during the Spring semester and features talks from our members about all sorts of Cybersecurity topics.

If you're interested in hosting a conference or are just curious, talk to one of our eboard members during GBMs or shoot us a message on Discord! Each of us has our own specialties, but we can definitely direct you to who knows the most about whatever topic it is that you're interested in.

Capture the Flags

CTFs are timed, quiz-style competitions that challenge players to solve a myriad of cyber challenges in a variety of categories. NICC hosts two in-person CTFs: SpookyCTF in Fall and JerseyCTF in Spring along with the Secure Computing Initiative (SCI) and ACM.

More information and advertising for these will pop up closer to their dates! Keep an eye out on the "Upcoming Events" page of this website as well as your Email, Discord, and other relevant channels for more info!
